The first two pictures were taken a few days ago in Alexandra. The morning was overcast and a bit cool, so we decided to stick close to home after traveling to Queenstown the day before. We explored the town - it really is quite charming - and discovered plenty of activities to keep us busy. The girls loved exploring the "secret" walking path by the river and ending up on Shaky Bridge - a well-named walking bridge - leading to a path which leads up to the Alexandra Clock, situated high on a hillside. The clock is visible from anywhere in town - how practical!
Thursday we headed up to Wanaka (about an hour's drive NW of "Alex"), stopping at Puzzling World just outside the main town. It was a lot of fun touring the different rooms to experience illusions such as sliding "uphill" on a rail chair, and "using" the Roman toilet. In the real washrooms, the girls discovered toilets that they were sure Auntie Kim & Uncle Louis would love.
Wanaka itself was a small town that seemed much less touristy than Queenstown (at least not as bustling) and we spent a relaxing few hours just chilling at the beach. It was a very picturesque setting and another jewel of Central Otago. Check out the girls' pages to see what they were up to that day and the "friend" they made at the beach....
