We went to Stoney Creek and we found a swimming hole. We were going to go swimming and then some university students came and one of them was from this area. He showed us a really high bar that you could hold onto and swing off into the water. He did it first and then my dad did it and then the second time my dad did a cannonball! I also learned how to skip rocks better. I saw some fish too. My mom swung off the bar but it took her a couple of minutes and then she finally did it!
We went on a train ride to Kuranda. The train was very cool. On the way there, we had 1 stop to look at a big waterfall. When we got off the train, we looked around and at a market we bought these little plastic balls with hair which was made out of strips of yarn and had googeley eyes and a pompom for its nose. It didn't have a mouth though and you can make silly faces. You can make it flat and make it round in a ball. We saw some people make candy at a candy factory and we got to taste one blueberry candy and one candy floss candy. I ordered a chicken burger and it was surprisingly big!!! It was very good!!
Cracker was a Major Mitchell's cockato0 and every time you would say hello Cracker, she would repeat it lots of times. We went on a tour of a crocodile farm and saw lots of young crocodiles. We went on a boat tour to see some crocodiles. (see video on my parents' 'blog!)You can see me holding a Betty blue-tongued lizard and her scales were very very smooth. She had a blue tongue!! We were feeding the agile wallabies and the kangaroos. The kangaroos loved the sweet potato we fed them. I saw a baby wallaby and I fed it a piece of a corn cob. It was eating it until there was nothing left on the corn cob and when there was nothing left on the cob, he was still eating it. He was my favorite one there. If you fed the kangaroos a piece of sweet potato, they would grab it out of your hands and just eat it. We discovered a new animal called a quoll. It is in the same family as the Tasmanian devil!! It is one of Australia's unique marsupial carnivores!! They have little spots all over them, even on their tails. We also got to feed some cassowaries, they are endangered rainforest birds and they are flightless. We fed them tropical fruit.
The first picture is a real lizard!!! The next 2 are a fake snake but the one around my neck is real!!! It is a carpet python just like the one that was on the trail when we went up Mt. Warning!!!! We saw a mom kangaroo with her Joey's leg and tail sticking out of her pouch, it was so funny and cute!! There was a very interesting animal rescue hospital. We were lucky enough that the vet let us go into the hospital and look at a possum's x-ray!! The Aboriginal show was very interesting and they performed traditional singing and dancing. One of the performers played the Didgeridoo which is a traditional musical instrument. Check out my parents' part of this blog to see some videos.
When we were staying in Pottsville, we were beside the beach. There was a creek that we swam in a lot. The creek got its water from the ocean. Teaghan and I were mining at the creek because they used to mine in this creek a long time ago and we found lots of stones. We went on a very cool hike up Mt.Warning. It was quite difficult going up. We saw 2 snakes on the trail, one was a very big carpet python and the other was a small black one. When we were almost at the top, there was a chain and a bunch of rocks so we had to hold onto the chain. We went to a place called Underwater World and it was fun! In the first picture I am holding a sea creature. We got to see the 3 otter brothers and they are a little bit naughty.
We saw a seal show and they were jumping to hit the balls that were hanging down from the ceiling. We also saw a sea lion. Does anybody know the difference between a seal and a sea lion? Teaghan, mommy and I had fun posing for the picture inside the big jaws!! We went to a big market on Saturday and saw a cool artist. When I first saw her, I thought she was a statue. She was real!! She didn't move until we gave her some money and then she smiled! But she still didn't speak. En fran^ç The house here in Tewantin has a swimming pool in the backyard!! The pool is really fun, there is a waterslide and a waterfall!!! There is water coming out of the slide and it makes us go faster! |
