I really had fun boogie boarding at Rainbow Beach, my parents think that I am an expert now!!! We went to a Country Fair in Wauchope and I had a chance to hold some adorable chicks. I also tried to hold a duckling but it was a little too big for my hands. I saw some calves and they sucked on my finger and I gave them some milk in a bottle. Teaghan and I had fun in the bumper cars. We went on a sunset cruise and almost had the whole boat to ourselves.

There is a koala hospital here in Port Macquarie and it is very important because they can save koalas lives. After they take care of them, they release them back into the wild. I adopted a koala named Koolabong Paula. It really is a 50$ donation to the koala hospital. This money will help to take care of more koalas. I know a little bit about her story: When Paula was just a small joey (baby koala), someone found her and she looked like just a little ball of brown fur in the grass. She was covered in fresh blood!!! The man who found her brought her to the koala hospital and now she is all better and they released her in the same nature reserve where the man had found her. We went to visit the Billabong Koala and Wildlife Park. You can see me feeding the wallabies in the video below. It was super cool. They had little little hands and when I fed them they put their little claws on my hands! They were all surrounding me and when I walked away some of them followed me!! They were so cute and adorable!! I wish I could bring one home (mommy does too!) I also patted a koala and it felt so soft and a little woolly. We also patted a dingo!! It looks exactly like a dog but it is a wild animal in the dog family.
Teaghan and I decided to build a city out of sand. We put lots of stuff in the city that was from New Zealand for example: we made the Cadbury Chocolate Factory, a Tip Top Ice Cream Shop and Penguin Place. We also made a big moat around our city. We went for lots of nice walks on the beach and you can see me swinging on a Tarzan rope. One of my favorite things was going sea kayaking. We went all the way to the other side of the Bay. I saw little whirlpools in the water. I thought of Uncle Louis and Auntie Kim while we were kayaking because they have brought us kayaking on Lac St-Louis near their house. I really liked playing outside on the beach with Teaghan by ourselves while Mommy and Daddy were inside the beach house. We also saw so many stars and constellations at night!!! Here are the answers to my 3 questions in my last posting: 1) The sand is black because it contains lots of iron 2) A starfish can grow back its leg . (it generates new tissue to grow it back!) 3) The phases of the moon. My question this time: When is the best time of the day to see a kiwi bird?
We were at Waiwera beach and it was a cloudy day with a little bit of rain and I saw a print of a starfish on the beach and then Teaghan found the starfish right next to it. We decided to put it back in the water to try and save its life. We liked playing on PIHA BEACH. The sand is black on this beach. I made myself a mud glove and it made my skin feel so smooth!! This beach can be very dangerous and there is a popular reality TV show called Piha Rescue!! We went back to Goat Island and went to the Marine Discovery Centre. I held a sea sponge, a snake star and a sea urchin as you can see in order in the pictures. Here are 3 questions for you: 1) Why do you think the sand is black at Piha beach? 2) What happens to a starfish if one of its arms is cut off? 3) What affects the tides of the ocean? Answers in my next posting! It was really fun to go Boogie boarding. We have gone many times. We get to ride waves. At first, the water is a little cool and then it starts getting warmer. Today, my Dad and I were digging a hole in the sand at the beach and we were looking for cool stuff.
There were lots of big old Kauri trees in the Alice Eaves reserve. We went to a place called Kelly Tarlton's Underwater World and we held some sea creatures there. (starfish and small shrimp) We saw some sharks and lots of fish swim above us. We also saw lots of seahorses!! In the fourth and fifth pictures, Teaghan and I are jumping over the waves. We also learned how to body surf with our dad. There are so many seashells, probably millions of them on Broken shell beach!!! My mom and I learned a dance at the Māori cultural center. ( you can see the video below) You can also see boiling mud pools in some of the pictures. I really, really liked patting 2 twin lion cubs named Xavier and Xander. They were just 5 months old. In the video you can see them being fed, it was quite disgusting but also interesting!! English first, a French message will follow!
For Teaghan's birthday we went to the Cadbury chocolate factory! In the second picture you can see me in front of thousands of Crunchie bars! I will add some more pictures that I took soon. The other pictures are from our walk to Tunnel Beach. We followed 2 girls down a tunnel and we weren't expecting to find a beach! We spent a lot of time there climbing on rocks and playing. There were sand rocks and you could draw on them using sticks or coins. This is for Auntie Kim: Teaghan and I made "Mucky" Art ( our invented art ) on rocks. This is how we make "Mucky" Art: first, you take lots of wet sand and you put it in your hand, then, you take a little bit of your wet sand in your other hand and then you stick it on the rock and you take some more and you start making something. Then, you gently take lots of light ( dry) sand in your hand and then you gently sprinkle it on your wet sand, all over the Art. English et après en français!
We went to Penguin Place. It is a conservation reserve for Yellow-eyed Penguins. In the first 2 pictures, you can see penguins in the penguin hospital. This hospital is for the sick, starving or injured penguins. They feed them and take care of them and then let them back into the wild. Then, we walked on a path, following our guide, Harrisson. ( you can see us with him in the 6th picture) We were a small group of 8 people. We came across Wilson ( the very chill penguin ) on the path. We had to walk up another path to go around him. We also saw tiny wooden houses for the Blue Penguins. We saw a few of them in their houses. We also saw some New Zealand fur seals. Also, we saw some sea lions on the beach. When the tour was over, we saw a sheep running because there was a bus driving behind it. |
