After traveling around a fair bit our first week in Tewantin, we decided to stick closer to home for a few days. The forecast for the whole week was for plenty of rain, so we were very happy to get two days of brilliant sunshine (good to know the meteorologists get it wrong here too!). We took full advantage and simply drove 15 min into town to spend both days at Main Beach. Only two shots to show of very calm conditions, but everyone had a blast playing in the waves (I can't imagine us EVER getting tired of it!).
The next few days started out sunny in the morning, clouding over by early afternoon, and raining by late afternoon. Looking on the "sunny" side, we decided to explore some local attractions other than the beach. On Tuesday, we drove up the Conroy-Noosa road about 10k to the Noosa Botanic Gardens. We had a lovely walk around the grounds on the shore of Lake MacDonald. Pictures 3 through 7 were taken on the grounds. In the third picture, Rowan has created a cool effect, "framing" a sculpture of two lovers embracing. Pics 4-6 are of my flowers in the gardens - beautiful! The seventh is of the girls putting on an impromptu "spectacle" in the amphitheatre.
After leaving the gardens, we drove a few kilometres back towards town to Tewantin National Park. Along the way, we stopped on a residential street so Judy could take a photo of perhaps the most common road sign (besides the speed limit) that we have seen here - a bit different from Canada!
The last five shots were taken in the park from the summit of Mt. Tinbeerwah. By the time we got up there, the rain had started to roll in, so we couldn't get clear views of the coast. We did, however, get a few good shots of the family on the top! Teaghan took the photo of Judy & me, and we both loved capturing the girls in sister/best-friend mode on the way back down.
